Honoring the Pioneers of Plant Medicine Science- Class of 2027
Cannabis Research Hall of Fame and Psychedelics Research Hall of Fame brought to you by Patients Out of Time recognize the researchers and legal advocates whose work advanced therapeutic understanding when institutions refused to support them.

Recognition for those who risked everything for THE MOMENT
For decades, scientists and attorneys working in cannabis and psychedelics operated at the professional margins — underfunded, under-recognized, often at career risk. They published groundbreaking research when grant committees wouldn't fund it. They litigated medical necessity when courts treated it as criminal defense. They built the evidence base that federal rescheduling now validates.
On May 29th, 2027, we honor them.
The inaugural Cannabis Research Hall of Fame and Psychedelics Research Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place in Orlando, Florida — one month after cannabis was placed in Schedule III, acknowledging accepted medical use for the first time in federal law. This recognition is 50 years overdue.

Recognizing Pioneers in Cannabis Research
Recognition from the Cannabis Research Hall of Fame validates decades of work conducted when institutional support seemed impossible or risky. This formalization of scientific contribution matters deeply to the field and leaves breadcrumbs for the next generation.

Scheril Murray Powell Esq
Patients Out of Time Executive Director, Pioneering cannabis researcher, Cannabis and Agricultural Attorney
The Hall of Fame honors those who persisted through professional isolation and underfunding. It acknowledges that rigorous science conducted under impossible conditions built the evidence base we rely on today.

Mary Lynn Mathre
Founder, Patients Out of Time, Nurse, Navy Veteran and cannabis researcher
This recognition by the Cannabis Research Hall of Fame ensures that the history of scientific courage during an era of stigma and institutional resistance is preserved for future researchers and clinicians.

Dr. Deb Malka
Board Member and Physician
Being recognized by the Hall of Fame validates the clinical work that was conducted when mainstream medicine rejected cannabis research. It signals that the evidence we built is now reshaping how physicians approach patient care.

Michael Green
Board Member and Attorney
The Hall of Fame acknowledges that advancing plant medicine research required not only scientific rigor but intellectual courage. Recognition from this organization validates both the methodology and the personal sacrifice.

Mary Lynn Mathre
Founder of Patients Out of Time
This recognition from the Cannabis Research Hall of Fame matters because it formalizes acknowledgment of the pioneering work that laid the foundation for current therapeutic applications and clinical acceptance.

Scheril Murray Powell, Esq
Executive Director, Cannabis Attorney, and Psychedelics Attorney
WHY THIS MATTERS
Hall of Fame recognition is not ceremonial. It's structural. When researchers and advocates receive formal acknowledgment for work in stigmatized fields, it: Validates career paths for early-stage scientists and attorneys considering plant medicine work Signals to funding bodies that this research meets standards of rigor and merits institutional support Creates leverage for grant applications, tenure reviews, and research proposals Establishes permanent record preventing erasure of contributions made under impossible conditions Builds professional credibility that opens doors currently closed to plant medicine specialists An inductee can write "Hall of Fame Honoree" on every CV, grant application, and expert witness qualification for the rest of their career. This is not a lifetime achievement award. This is an investment in the future of the field.
HOW IT WORKS: Deadline is May 25th, 2027
1. Nominate (Now – May 25th, 2027) Submit researcher or legal advocate name, affiliation, and brief statement of contribution. $10 nomination ON SEPARATE FORMS. You can do multiple nominations for the SAME nominee on the same form. The fees collected support Hall of Fame operations. Nominate as many people as you want on separate forms. Multiple nominations for one person demonstrate community support for People's Choice Award. 2. Expert Panel Review (May 26th, 2027) Independent panel evaluates nominees on scientific/legal contribution, professional courage, sustained impact. Panel operates under blind review. Nomination volume does not influence selection. 3. Inaugural Induction announcement(May 39, 2027) Three inductees per track announced. People's Choice Award announced. Ceremony, recognition, permanent archive established. WHO SHOULD YOU NOMINATE? The researcher whose lab was the only one willing to study cannabis when federal funding dried up. The attorney who won the medical necessity case that opened the door for others. The scientist who published findings that contradicted DEA policy and lost their grant. The advocate who drafted the legislation everyone said was impossible. The clinician who prescribed cannabis when their hospital threatened their license. The legal strategist who built the rescheduling argument the government finally accepted. Nominate the person who kept the work alive when the institutions wouldn't. [VIEW PIONEERS] — see examples of past contributions that would qualify WHY PATIENTS OUT OF TIME Patients Out of Time was founded in 1995 as the direct continuation of Robert Randall and Alice O'Leary's Alliance for Cannabis Therapeutics — the organization Randall founded after becoming the first American to legally receive federal cannabis in 1976. For 30 years, POT has: Hosted 16 National Clinical Conferences featuring the world's leading cannabis researchers Provided CME/CEU education to 10,000+ healthcare professionals Maintained relationships with the federal IND patients — the only people legally using cannabis when everyone else was arrested for it Argued that cannabis has accepted medical use and that researchers proving it deserve recognition POT is the institutional heir to the people who were legally using cannabis as medicine when everyone else was being arrested for it. That history gives POT the moral authority to confer this recognition. WHAT INDUCTEES RECEIVE Permanent Archive Presence — Profile with research summary, publications, photos on POT website in perpetuity Physical Recognition — Official Hall of Fame jacket and certificate Scientific/Legal Visibility — Featured in POT programming, conference presentations, media positioning as expert voice Professional Credibility — "Hall of Fame Inductee" designation for CVs, grant applications, expert witness qualifications Historical Record — Place in permanent documentation of plant medicine development
